HOW ABOUT A DRIVE ALONG THE NORTH SHORE ENDING AT A FIVE-STAR CAFE? We’ll take in the scenic coastal ride on Route 127 from Beverly through Pride’s Crossing, Beverly Farms, and Manchester-by-the-Sea before arriving in Magnolia, MA, at the Happy Humpback Cafe for beverages and food (depending on table availability; it's a cafe, not a restaurant).

Our plan is to meet between 9:00 and 9:45 am at Tom & Angela's at 27 Washington Street in Beverly, MA. Take Route 128 to the Brimbal Ave exit (more scenic, less traffic). You can use the Map & Directions button above to home in on 27 Washington Street with your GPS when you get close. Important: Tom & Angela’s blue house is set back at the end of a long driveway. Park in their driveway — DO NOT park in the adjacent lot, as it’s designated renter spaces. See the annotated GPS photo to the right.

While we’re there, we’ll get to see Tom’s newly restored Italian hardware (a two-year restoration) or walk one block to a public ocean overlook.

Then we’ll leave promptly at 9:45 am and take Route 127 the entire way, through Manchester, and turn right at the sign for Magnolia (turn-off) and continue to the Happy Humpback (see the map below for the location). Park on Lexington Street or around the block. We’ll be able to enjoy the ambiance of this hidden shore town or pick Tom's brain about the realities of a successful paint and engine complete restoration and interior refresh (he also has worked part-time at Paul Russell & Co.).

From there, it's a short walk to the ocean overlook on scenic Magnolia Beach and the newly built walk-out pier (also shown on the map below). To get there, we urge you to do the 10+ minute walk along Shore Road, overlooking the Atlantic. Stay parked at the Cafe.

Although the event ends in Magnolia, please note that many additional venues are not far away: Ravenswood Park (extensive walking trails, Trustees of Reservations, with parking), Gloucester, Rockport, and Halibut Point State Park (with its new educational visitor center, easy walking trails, and expansive ocean panoramas). Or, go back/south on Route 127 to browse a well-stocked funky book store: Manchester By the Book in downtown Manchester.

Sign-up in advance is required to caravan from Tom/Angela's (the number of cars many be limited). Contact Tom via email at tom@nanduce.com. If we are full-up, you can meet us in Magnolia.
