BOFF!!! THE CAPE CRUSADE IS BACK! AONE members and Cape Cod residents John Devereux and Director Frank Anigbo are teaming up to host our final driving event of 2023, the return of the AONE Cape Crusade!
We’ll all meet up in Falmouth at John’s garage, which is easy to get to (see Directions below). We’ll be greeted with coffee, blueberry muffins, and donuts. Both Frank and John have some interesting, mostly non-Alfa cars that we’ll be able to check out. Plan to arrive between 9 and 9:30 and we'll embark on the Crusade promptly at 10. There are bathrooms on site at John’s garage.
The tour will then shove off south, following the Nantucket Sound shore and then, after a right at Woods Hole, we'll go north along Buzzards Bay. From there it will proceed to a regrouping point directly underneath the Bourne Bridge (the Bourne Recreational Area).
After that, we’ll head northeast on Sandwich Road until it merges with picturesque Route 6A, which we will take to Frank's house in Barnstable village. There’ll be plenty of parking at a field across the street. Frank will plant an Alfa Romeo/AONE flag at the entrance and leave some classic cars there so there’s no missing it! His address is 1733 Hyannis Road, Barnstable.
Frank plans to get an assortment of sandwiches and drinks delivered while we’re at his garage. He’ll have a Ferrari 330 GT and Maserati Mexico (both 2+2 coupes) on display so we can discuss similarities and differences of these two contemporary Italian GTs targeted at industrialists with kids.
Driving speeds on the tour will be slow to moderate, as all areas are relatively dense. Detailed, turn-by-turn maps will be provided. The total driving distance will be approximately 50-60 miles.
If you’re planning to take part in the Cape Crusade, please contact John Devereux at john_devereux@yahoo.com or 508-560-6135 and let him know how many people. Otherwise, we’ll run out of sandwiches!
Directions
John’s garage is located at 23 Research Road, Falmouth, MA. See the Map & Directions button above. When coming down Research Road, look for the "Delbrook/JKS" sign and turn up the driveway. The building the garage is in is about 400 yards up the driveway on the right. I'll have my blue GTV parked outside.
Gassing up before you get to the garage is a good idea. Here are several gas stations on the way in (in order of proximity to the garage).
Shell: 1412 Sandwich Rd, Cataumet. (This is on Route 28A and is closest to the garage.)
Mobil: 360 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne. (This is right on Route 28.)
Cumberland Farms: Right on the Bourne Rotary
If you are coming down Route 3, there is also a Shell station in the service area just before the Sagamore bridge.
