Winter Potluck

A good time was had by all of the nearly three dozen attendees at our 2019 Annual Winter Pot Luck Banquet Party on the Saturday afternoon and evening of February 9th. The weather was cooperative, especially for the time of year. We started with Tom setting things up and running images of last year's events and setting up a display of door prizes from various sources, ranging from tee-shirts, scarves and caps to shift knobs, books and oil filters. What a range! A new supplier of Alfa parts, Madness Autoworks, specializing in parts for newer Alfas, contributed several $20 gift certificates and a few parts which went quickly.

We also had a table for members to swap and sell parts of their own. Longtime member Fran O'Connor brought a stash of goodies from his collection that were interesting, to say the least, and some of those went home with their happy new owners.

The pot luck appetizers and main courses were great, ranging from chicken wings to chicken cacciatore, with an abundance of desserts and coffee to finish. While we were eating, Tom L. ran a video of "How the (new) Alfa Giulia is Made", and one of the Giulia Quad being driven and enthusiastically reviewed by former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson. Then, AONE member and vintage racer extraordinaire Roger Cassin narrated a couple of videos of his touring in Israel in his 1954 1900 CSS and racing at Lime Rock Park, mostly in his 1956 Giulietta Spider. Great stuff!

The door prizes, which have become an anticipated feature of the winter party, were chosen by the usual number lottery, with people in turn taking their choices of door prize gifts from the table. Great conversation and camaraderie were enjoyed by all!

Our next event will be the Movie and Pizza Night at Dave & Vi Pratt's in Dedham on March 9th. Hope to see you there!Tiny Quadrifoglio
