It's time once again for a club movie night! Yes, our next AONE Pizza and a Movie Night is coming right up on Saturday, November 17th. Our previous screening parties have met with excellent turnouts each time, so we hope you'll join the fun!

This time around, we've got another fine movie lined up — Agnelli, a recently-released documentary by director Nick Hooker about the flamboyant Italian industrialist, Gianni Agnelli. As the head of FIAT, Agnelli controlled 4.4% of Italy's GDP, 3.1% of its industrial workforce and 16.5% of its industrial investment in research. He was the richest man in modern Italian history. As a public figure, Agnelli was also known worldwide for his impeccable, slightly eccentric fashion sense, which has influenced both Italian and international men's fashion. He was also quite the ladies' man! Here's an excerpt from a review:

Italian industrialist Gianni Agnelli is the focus of this compelling and insightful portrait of his dramatic and colorful life. Divided into five parts, this film chronicles the story of the world-renowned head of FIAT Automobiles — his childhood, his revitalization of FIAT in the 1980s, his love of automobiles, and the emotional and physical challenges that crippled Agnelli prior to his death in 2003. This compelling portrait features intimate interviews with nearly 40 family members, friends, professional confidantes and rivals, detailing the story of the legendary Italian industrialist and playboy.

Definitely a fascinating movie about an extraordinary figure, set in the turbulent era for Italy of the '60s through '80s, with lots of original footage and interesting interviews. The film has been getting nothing but excellent reviews! To further whet your appetite, here's the official trailer:

We'll be setting up in Dave & Vi Pratt's living room in Dedham, MA. It's centrally located, just a mile and a half off Route 128 (I-95). This venue saves the club money and makes it easy to change the date in case of inclement weather.

Before the film, there's pizza! We'll gather around 5:00PM, the pizza will arrive around 5:30, and we'll dim the lights and run the movie at 6:00. We'll also have popcorn available to munch on during the movie, and the club will supply bottled water and soft drinks. There is a change, however! Dave has stopped brewing beer (there's just so much good beer available commercially, unlike when he started 40 years ago), so bring your own beer, wine, or whatever — there's now a dedicated fridge for you to stash it in.

After the movie, we'll repair to the kitchen for coffee and desserts (contributions appreciated!). Then we'll present some short Alfa-oriented video subjects for any who might be interested in hanging around. We've gathered together a bunch of clips from movies (and ads) in which Alfas have appeared over the years — fun to watch! We've got several new ones since last time, but if you know of more, please send them (or links to them) to me!

Our presentations, don't forget, will all be displayed on our club's spiffy big-screen, multi-channel audio/video system for your viewing and listening pleasure.

There is no charge for members and their families, but we'll be asking a $10 donation from non-members to help defray the pizza expense. So that we know how much pizza to get, you must sign up with Dave Pratt ( or 781-320-8208) by Friday, November 16th, at the latest. Seating is limited to 30 people and is first come, first served!

See you at the flicks!Tiny Quadrifoglio

Directions to Dave & Vi Pratt's
(See Map & Directions button above)

Teatro a Casa Pratt is located at 300 Westfield Street, Dedham, MA. Take Route 128 (I-95) to Exit 16 for Route 109 east toward Dedham. In about 3/4 mile, turn left onto Westfield (if you hit a traffic light you've gone too far). Bear left at immediate fork. 300 Westfield Street is on the left, 0.8 mile from Rt. 109, #300 (and perhaps an Alfa banner) on a tree. Parking in the driveway is limited, so squeeze in or park on the street. GPS users: Key in 320 Westfield Street rather than 300, since it's more accurate. Click here to download a printable map.
