Derby
Want
to go racing but afraid you might break your car and not be able to get home?
The Giulietta Giubilee Pinewood Derby is for you!
In conjunction with the Friday evening Revelry and Mayhem gathering, we'll be
holding a Pinewood Derby. This challenging event will provide lots of fun time
for both young and old Alfisti—it’s real "wheel-to-wheel" competition!
If you've never done this before, pinewood derby racing involves the building up of your car from a pinewood kit (sold by any Boy Scout shop or available online) and racing it against others, with the final eliminators in first, second and third places takin' home the trophies. We're looking forward to a good crowd of kids (and the lucky parents who bring 'em) showing up and having a blast! In fact, rumor has it that we'll also be running a class for adults.
Don't forget to get your kit ahead of time, because they won’t be available at the convention site. Besides, you'll need the time to make them beautiful anyway. Run them in the Pinewood Derby, and then enter them in the Alfa Model Concours—Alfa themes appreciated! Please note: No motore allowed. Weather permitting, we'll be running the Pinewood Derby in the open air atop the Convention Hotel Parking Garage, amongst the larger Alfas (the ones with motore).
