I recently came across a cool product on EBay. They're vintage-style battery caps that fit most new-style batteries. They are made in Belgium by Weskcar, and kits include 6 caps (which fit 19mm holes), a battery manufacturer logo sticker, and instructions. The covers just snap into place and are properly vented.

Kits are available for Delco, Willard, Motorcraft batteries and more. No Italian makes yet! Many 1960s Alfas came with an Italian Safa battery, with probably red caps as their corporate color is red. I used the Willard style. I like the look better than the lime green Interstate or the Eveready-looking Optima. The battery (for my 1967 Duetto) that I used for the caps is a new Interstate that came with a black case and rectangular press-on caps.

The price is about $26 with shipping, and they took about two weeks to arrive.Tiny Quadrifoglio
